As part of the masterplan to reimagine its City North Campus, RMIT engaged Capabuild to undertake the fitout of teaching and professional spaces in Building 57.

Leveraging a successful working partnership developed over several recent projects, our team was quick to understand project goals and ways of working, aligning smoothly with the client and consulting team.

A major consideration was minimising noisy and disruptive works in a live university environment. To manage this, we used secure hoardings and arranged for deliveries and removals to take place out of hours.

Difficulties with latent conditions, particularly services, meant significant additional works and coordination was required. We adopted a proactive approach to resolve these, ensuring fit-for-purpose solutions for RMIT.

A focus on a smooth and comprehensive post-handover service meant a very happy client and the finished result is a bright and functional space for RMIT staff to enjoy.
