Deakin BC

Continuing our partnership with Deakin University, Capabuild was engaged to deliver the active learning studios in the ground floor lobby of the new Building BC at Burwood campus.

The high-end design of the teaching spaces, complemented by a state-of-the-art audio visual package, incorporates concealed structure to support the equipment, material selection to improve acoustics, high-end wall panelling and bespoke joinery.

Key to the success of this project was the detailed design workshopping process during the pre-construction phase, ensuring the design and the client and designers’ expectations were aligned. Shop drawings and control sample sign-offs were effectively implemented to manage quality.

Delivered in an occupied building under live environment conditions, the project presented several logistical challenges resulting in some out-of-hours deliveries and works. The results speak for themselves and pleasingly this project strengthened our existing relationship with Deakin leading to future opportunities.
